CALL FOR MANUSCRIPTS

Information Management entails collecting, organizing, maintaining and retrieval, dissemination of information to the concerned stake holders. Till 1970's this was largely limited to maintenance of files and life cycle management of paper-based files, ledgers and records. With the advent of IT in 1970's, data maintenance also got included in the scope of Information Management. By late 1990's, Information Management witnessed a paradigm shift with huge volume of information getting regularly disseminated across computer networks and by other electronic means and became a powerful tool for analysis and rational decision making. The advent of open source and Knowledge Management System in Computer Science and IT sectors has further enhanced the creation, design and development of knowledge base, which is a set of modules built around the concept of capturing, filtering and analysis of information. In fact, in hi tech, I.T. and Consultancy sectors, knowledge management is considered the only meaningful economic resource. Various thinkers describe today's global economy as one in transition to a "knowledge economy" - as an extension of an "information society". In the changed context, "human capital" encompassing the traits of know-how, expertise and creativity are as critical as other resources for success in the inter-connected global economy. Most new jobs and wealth creation activities are fuelled by intense competitiveness of new knowledge based industries.

The origin of IT industry in India can be traced back to 1974, when the main frame manufacturer Burroughs utilized the services of Indian Programmers for installing system soft ware for U.S. client. Indian education system gives lot of emphasis to Science and Mathematics. The large pool of English speaking Science and Mathematics graduates has enabled Indian IT industry to create Silicon Valley type hubs in India and play a dominant role in the international IT arena. The principal aim of the Conference is to bring together experts from academia, research and industry and offer a collaborative platform to address the emerging issues related to information and knowledge explosion and management and harnessing of the same through information science and technology. The IMKE intends to bridge the gap between different areas of digital information science and management. This forum will address a large number of themes and issues. The Conference will feature original research and industrial papers on the theory, design and implementation of digital information systems, as well as demonstrations, tutorials, workshops and industrial presentations. IMKE is the Information Research Conference aimed at presenting and exchanging current research themes and experiences and fostering a relationship among universities, research institutes, industry and policy makers to take stock of the current developments and have a look into the future trends in this area.
